It was originally a great experience and especially if you forgot that your body was somehow engaged.
I am posting this on behalf of my husband.. he sent this email out almost two weeks ago and never received a response or acknowledgment. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing regarding the care my mother( Ms. Lynk) received while at your rehabilitation facility prior to her recent hospitalization for sepsis. When our family visited her room before her expected discharge, we found her in extreme distress, yelling in pain and stating that she felt like her body was “on fire.” She informed us that she had been experiencing severe pain for several days and had repeatedly requested to be sent to…
I am posting this on behalf of my husband.. he sent this email out almost two weeks ago and never received a response or acknowledgment. To Whom It May Concern, I am writing regarding the care my mother( Ms. Lynk) received while at your rehabilitation facility prior to her recent hospitalization for sepsis. When our family visited her room before her expected discharge, we found her in extreme distress, yelling in pain and stating that she felt like her body was “on fire.” She informed us that she had been experiencing severe pain for several days and had repeatedly requested to be sent to the hospital. We were also told that she had only been given Extra Strength Tylenol despite her ongoing symptoms and worsening condition. After I spoke directly with the physician involved in her care, stronger pain medication was finally considered. However, based on our concern and her visible condition, we made the decision to call an ambulance ourselves. Upon arrival at the hospital, she was diagnosed with sepsis. My mother already suffers from Reno Kidney failure and this could have been Life or Death for her. The doctor at the hospital said we sent her to the hospital right on time because she was nearing the danger zone . We understand that medicine is complex and that providers must make difficult decisions every day. However, this situation raises serious concerns about whether her symptoms were appropriately evaluated and whether her repeated requests for emergency care were taken seriously enough. This letter is not written out of anger, but out of concern for patient safety. We hope this experience can serve as a teaching moment and encourage closer attention to patients who express severe uncontrolled pain, worsening symptoms, or concerns that something is deeply wrong. We are grateful that she ultimately received the emergency treatment she needed, but we cannot ignore how serious the outcome could have been had we not intervened when we did. We respectfully ask that this matter be reviewed internally so that future patients receive prompt evaluation and care when warning signs are present. Sincerely, Corey Wilson Ps. It is now June 3rd we had her sent to hospital may 16th and she is still currently in the hospital. Thank God we followed our gut and didn’t let them send her home
