The grounds are lovely and so is the facility with lots of activities and a whole floor of gameplay like basketball, pool, shuffle board, miniature shuffle board, ping pong, and exercise equipment, a baby grand Piano, and huge fireplaces. The team is friendly except for the dining room team captain.
Many thanks to Darlene, both Marilyns, Shelly, Z, Carlo, Jerome and all the Maintenance staff, Kitchen/ wait staff and Environmental Services. What a wonderful team you guys have! My dad was a resident for several weeks for respite care. From beginning to end, we felt welcomed and cared for. The staff went out of their way to accommodate him on short notice, providing all the essentials he would need without us having to move in a bunch of furniture for just a short stay. The facility is very clean and welcoming. I love the fireplace and living room-atmosphere in the main group area when you walk in. The other residents are friendly and cheerful. He really enjoyed to quality and variety of food. His room was a cozy efficiency; more than adequate space for one person. The kitchenette was enough for his needs, and he really appreciated the easy-access shower. Everything was modern and clean. And I believe the bathroom was recently updated. The staff remembered my dad's name from the very beginning, and care felt very personalized. I can't say enough good things about American House Sterling Heights. I would highly recommend. And we would definitely return if his situation changes in the future. Many thanks to the staff!
Moved my father in on very short medical notice! They were wonderful. Staff is pleasant Darlene and Tina! Medical team that we had encounters with was great especially Carole !!!!My father really enjoyed living here. 1 star taken away due to food . Just wasn’t the right fit for my father. I heard the food service has better themselves since ! My Dad made lasting friends there!
AH staff is very helpful when you have questions. Their entertainment program is great. They really try to get residents involved. If you are needing assistance with medical then the Medical Team is there to go over the best plan of action. And when the time comes then the Medical Team Hospice is there for you. They will communicate with you as much as you want.
This facility has nice studios, spacious & clean. Sales staff, [name removed] & [name removed] are wonderful. A special thank you to [name removed]and [name removed], they are phenomenal. This however is NOT A LICENCED NOR SECURED memory care. One employee went as far as to say she was not going to go get my mom if she left the facility because she was older & wasn't about to go chasing after her. I was completely transparent about my mom's condition, told them she is exit seeking, & AFTER an assessment with THEIR medical team, I placed her with their recommendation. She was there 3 days & they asked me to come get her so I did. She was hospitalize for 13 days. During that time American House SH called to dismiss her. The Medical team supervisor [name removed]and Nurse [name removed] seem in over their heads for what goes on at American House SH. The business was fair & refunded my mom's money immediately. My mom ended up displaced & scrambling for a place to live at her end stage of life and it didn't have to be. She deserved better.
I had been working on my parents for approximately two years to agree to a move. My step mom has severe dementia and my dad had to become the main person for everything, something he had never had to do. They lived 2 1/2 hours from their closest family member and were pushing people away and making excuses for not coming to anything, always at the last minute. I finally had enough and ignored their last minute request to not come visit one weekend. I found them still in bed at noon when I got there. Their home was filthy inside and out. They never got out of their pjs that day and refused to open any windows or go outside and the visit was very uncomfortable as they are both chain smokers. From that day forward, I got my brother involved and moved them into American House in less than 3 months. It’s the best decision we could have made! They are still adjusting, but the activities are endless for the residents there. A place for mom was a great starting point for me and very helpful.
I toured American House Sterling Heights. It didn't seem as busy or active as the other facility, but it was a nice, clean, and friendly environment. I met only one other staff member besides the manager there, but they were friendly and nice. The setup didn't kind of feel that one too much.
I really love American House to date they have been great! The medical team also good and for the most part can't complain. I would recommend. So happy to be there. We are In the memory care unit but they are nice there. Food could be a little better and would wish they would help straighten up the room for them a little more but that it not a priority - they keep things pretty clean. No smell of urine, etc. Again we are happy and my cousin is checked on and supervised often always cared for which is most important
