I would not recommend Baldwin House. Management has changed and it is no longer a senior living facility. There's no staff. Only have someone answering the phone in an office. No reception or concierge. The manager is rude and basically wants all the senior residents to move which many have. He just wants an upscale apartment building for young Birmingham people. Take this facility off of your list.
I toured Baldwin House Birmingham. The location was wonderful. The apartments were very nice, but it is basically turning into just an apartment building with absolutely no services whatsoever. No food, no maintenance, nothing. It's just going to become a flat out apartment building for rent for anyone in downtown Birmingham. The staff was very good, very informative. The facility appeared adequate, not great, but certainly not shabby.
Baldwin House Birmingham was terrific about everything. I would love to go there. I liked the full offer that they had for community living. They have everything one could imagine and they were extremely well able to accommodate any needs, be it social or otherwise. They were very well equipped to deal with different kinds of people. It was cosmopolitan and extremely attractive with a great assortment of offers for socializing and opportunities for different events. They're also attentive to the residents. The woman who did the tour was excellent. She did her job very well and was very good…

We've had a very positive experience with Baldwin House. The staff if so helpful. My mom is meeting new people and doing more socially. She's happy. While it's not perfect, it "ticks" most of her boxes.
Baldwin House in Birmingham is beautiful. Its location is wonderful, if you like Birmingham. The problem with that place was it's too independent for my dad. Everything was good otherwise. They fit everything really nicely, like the location and the room size. It just wouldn't fit his needs. Even though it has availability for assistance, it wasn't quite the same and a little bit too independent for him. They basically don't have the same activities set up for a person that needs a little bit of help. If you're independent then it's OK. They've got people there, and they don't need much of anything; they're all set.
My mom is living at Baldwin House. It has been excellent and it has been a great experience. We chose them due to their proximity and accessibility.
Very nice and clean facility, friendly staff. Nice location. Long waitlist for low income residents. Very expensive otherwise. Placed my parents on the waitlist, hope to hear sooner than 2 yrs.
This is supposed to be an independent living, but many residents here should be in an assisted living facility. The meals are not very good, the food is all prepared purchased and healthy. No chef cooking in the kitchen. The manager & maintenance work 8 hours, 5 days a week. There should be more on site help available!!! The good thing about this place is its location.
