Brookhaven Manor isn’t just a community—it’s a family. And that’s something you can feel almost immediately after walking through the doors. There is a warmth here that is difficult to put into words. It’s in the staff member who knows a resident by name and remembers how they take their coffee. It’s in the laughter coming from the dining room, the conversations in the hallways, and the way someone always seems to notice when a resident could use a smile, a helping hand, or simply someone to talk to. The staff at Brookhaven don’t just come to work every day—they become a part of our…

The staff at Brookhaven don’t just come to work every day—they become a part of our residents’ lives. They celebrate birthdays and milestones, share stories and laughter, and are there through both the good days and the difficult ones. Over time, the line between “staff” and “resident” seems to disappear, and what’s left is something that feels much more like family. There is also an incredible sense of comfort in knowing that additional help is close by if it is ever needed. Excellence Care is located right on site and can tailor services to the individual needs of a resident. For someone who wants to maintain their independence while having additional support available, that peace of mind can mean everything—not only to the resident, but to the people who love them. From Chris, the Executive Director, to the housekeeping, dining, maintenance, and support staff, there is a genuine sense that the people here care about more than simply doing their jobs. They care about the people behind each apartment door. Moving into senior living can be an emotional chapter of life. You're leaving behind a place filled with memories and stepping into something unfamiliar. But somewhere along the way, Brookhaven stops feeling like the place you moved to and simply starts feeling like home. And maybe that’s what makes Brookhaven Manor so special. It isn't the building, the apartments, or the amenities that people remember most. It’s the people. It’s the relationships. It’s knowing that when you walk through those doors, someone is genuinely happy to see you. That’s not just a community. That’s a family.
My mother is currently a resident at Brookhaven Manor, and I have serious concerns about her safety and the facility’s response to those concerns. I have personally observed concerning behavior from the activities specialist, Amber, while she was on duty, including appearing disoriented and not fully attentive to residents. I brought this to the attention of staff and management, but no meaningful action was taken. It is extremely troubling that concerns about staff conduct affecting vulnerable residents are not being addressed appropriately. Because of this, I am now actively making plans to…

I brought this to the attention of staff and management, but no meaningful action was taken. It is extremely troubling that concerns about staff conduct affecting vulnerable residents are not being addressed appropriately. Because of this, I am now actively making plans to move my mother to another facility. Families trust facilities like this to provide a safe and professional environment. Right now, I cannot say that standard is being met.
The staff at Brookhaven Manor is exceptional! There ED Crisandra is kind and always there to help support her residents. There staff and residents are welcoming and love to help the Ann Arbor community. They recently assisted a local hospice company in collecting can foods for a local shelter. You are greatly appreciated and I highly recommend your community!
I have a downsizing/decluttering/estate sale business and I have several clients at Brookhaven. The residents love living here, the food is good and they have plenty of activities for residents to participate in. The Executive Director, Chris, is amazing. She really cares about the residents and it shows! I would give Brookhaven 5 stars if it weren’t for the on site medical service, Excellence. Excellence is very territorial and if a resident wants to use an outside service for any of their needs, they will make it impossible to do so. If you live at Brookhaven, you will not have a choice in who provides your medical services.
We toured Brookhaven Manor. The place could use a little remodeling. They won't take three cats. We have three cats right now and they're probably going to live another five years. We treat them pretty good and so we're not going to lose them for convenience. Their food is good, though. Their menu has variety, and the food is very tasty. They also have a lot of choices for dessert. The staff is OK, too.
Recently, residents got a letter (from management) asking us to submit reviews. (I have been there since [date removed] It is OK but I am unable to compare it with other facilities.) My son lives in Ypsilanti, so he does not have to drive too much.
Brookhaven Manor in Ann Arbor, Michigan has senior independent living apartments and is a very comfortable, affordable, friendly, active place near shopping and medical facilities. It has a friendly staff that provides meals, housekeeping, entertainment, and many daily activities. We have lived here for six years and have enjoyed it very much. Besides the staff there is a Resident Council that also hears our needs and relates them to the Staff. We left a house in another state to come live here to be near our son and family and living at Brookhaven Manor has been a very fine arrangement!
Brookhaven is my home and I feel very comfortable here. I love the many activities and events which are available to us. The food is very good and the staff is very warm and friendly. I also appreciate the location of Brookhaven which is within walking distance to many places, including Briarwood Mall. The residents here are very friendly and youthful, despite their ages. It is a very warm and caring community!
