EHM Assisted Living

My father fell and got frostbitten hands. He also had dementia with pretty severe sundowner's agitation in the evening. The hospital in Marlette was threatening me daily with stopping his medicare funded stay or finding a nursing home to place him in, since he wasn't always agreeing to treatment. I went to many places trying to find one which could provide the nursing care he needed and also deal with his dementia. Most of them looked horrifying, filled with confused miserable-looking people. When I went to EHM and met with Rebecca, I was immediately impressed with how clean the house was and how completely together Rebecca is. The other elderly people in the house were responsive and with it. The people working there were, to a person, kind, engaging, and caring. Rebecca is bright and highly capable. She assured me absolutely she could care for my Dad. She helped me work out how to get him to her facility over such a distance and she was true to her word: she took fantastic care of my Dad. The staff treated him with respect and each of them had opinions which they shared with each other about how they could make him more comfortable or help his condition. This is despite my father being very difficult sometimes. Rebecca is wonderful and hires wonderful people. I gave activities a 'fair' mark as the people there are largely sedentary by choice, as was my father before any of this even happened. I suspect that the activities would shape themselves to the interests of whomever is there.
