A wonderful well taken care of place.
Mostly really awesome staff. Very clean and rarely any odors. Lovely courtyard. Like all nursing facilities are assisted living facilities, they are understaffed. But try their best. Rooms very small for two residents, with two TVs, for what it costs. No recliners, you either sit in a wheelchair, your bed, or a regular chair. Also, room for one or two guests which could bother your roommate. There is only one lounge to have family visits. And that accommodates one or maybe 2 families. Food is what you would expect, occasionally really good, but mostly average and doesn't always follow the published menu. They do have an alternative menu choice. Not always warm. Food staff very nice. There seems to be a lot of room rotation for residents for various reasons. Seems like you are there long enough, your room should be your room. Physical therapists are also really nice, but rehab is not targeted enough towards your specific needs to go home. Charged for physical therapist and occupational therapist for the same, 45 minutes. So if you get 10 hours of therapy a week with your insurance, that likely means you're going to get 5 actual hours minus the time for the paperwork. If you're there long enough, time itself will heal you and you leave on your own accord...or not. That said, I did not worry excessively for any of the several family members who did happen to be here. You can stop by anytime of day or night.
The staff and nurses are the best!
Huron woods is a wonderful place I love the facility they make sure the patients are tooken care of and the workers are very caring. I watch how much the workers are pouring into the patients giving them the care and love they truly deserve.
Nice place for seniors. They have many things to keep residents busy. It’s clean and staff is very friendly
Very friendly staff and the residents that are here are nice to chat with... sharing stories of yester-years.
Pros: for being continually understaffed, the staff is nearly all really kind and try to be helpful. housekeeping does a good job of keeping the facility clean and odor free. shuttle service is good for taking you to off campus appointments if you plan ahead. activity staff try very hard to get residents involved in the activities. There is an alternate lunch menu for if you don't care what's on the published menu. outdoor patio is lovely in the summer. cons: rooms are two patients to a room, with no space for an additional comfortable chair for the resident to sit in, So it's either the bed or a wheelchair to sit in. Space is limited, so there is only one small living room area to retreat to for visiting with family or just getting out of your room. Each resident should have a shelf and a bulletin board. Two TVs to a room with no headsets can be very loud. You may be asked to move to a different room to accommodate another patient. The food service staff is kind, but food is what you would expect -some very good, some not. If you choose to eat in your room, it may be cold. Often items on the published menu say Chef's choice. So how do you know if you really want something from the alternate menu? If you are sent here for physical therapy, PT staff are nice but be vocal about your goal; therapy is done by 2 staff and two to four patients at the same time, for the 30 to 40 minutes covered by insurance. Often therapy time is spent 15 minutes on arm peddling and the foot peddling apparatus., and less time for one on one. Restrictions put on my care by PT staff, when I was a weak due to an infection, were not revisited, and greatly hindered my progress, until my family requested an updated review. I don't think this was intentional, it just happens. I believe the normal healing time necessary for broken bones, and assistance from the wonderful aids that is not available at home, is most effective and your best chance for going home in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, this is a nice, safe, clean small facility with good staff.
Alot of friendly staff, they are very attentive to the residents.
