My dad was there for less than 24 hours before we moved him…that’s how unsafe and uncaring they are at this facility, especially the director, Tim. My dad did not receive his meds in a timely manner which caused him become confused and disoriented. I arrived shortly after my dad had been transported to Novi Lakes and asked at the nurses station what room he was in. Without even looking up, the man pointed in the direction of my dad’s room. There was also a small toddler behind the desk, I’m assuming one of the workers kids. No one let us know the routine for my dad. After not receiving his meds and becoming disoriented, they informed us that we needed to hire a sitter to stay with him overnight because they didn’t have enough staff. My mom and I made the decision to take him back to the hospital because we’re weren’t certain of his safety. Every staff member told a different story and all of them complained about the lack of staff. I contacted the director, Tim, on a Saturday to convey my concerns but all he could really tell me was how I was ruining his family breakfast. I filed a complaint with Novi Lakes and had to wait over two weeks (when I called them back) to basically tell me what happened wasn’t what actually happened. I’m leaving this review to help other unsuspecting families not make the same mistake we did trusting them to care for my father. I guess I should have gone with the first red flag when we went to visit before choosing to send my dad there, when the female weekend supervisor was very quick to tell us they offer alcohol to their patients during “happy hour” everyday. They didn’t have enough staff to care for their patients let alone to monitor their alcohol intake or how it would affect their meds. Tim only cares about the bottom line. If you need a place to send a loved one, I would suggest Wellbridge in Novi. It’s definitely a gamble to send them to Novi Lakes.

Novi Lakes is a very nice and clean place! The food is great and the staff are always so helpful. If you have a loved one needing rehab services or even assisted living I highly recommend this place. They have a great therapy team and you can always count on seeing familiar faces in both parts of the campus.

I am writing this review to document serious concerns regarding patient safety, medication management, and communication during my father’s brief 24-hour stay at this facility. Upon admission at approximately 3:30 PM, there were immediate issues with medication administration. Also, I later found out that his medication list was incomplete and failed to include critical cardiac medications. Despite being on time-sensitive medications, he did not receive any medications until approximately 10:00 AM the following morning (and this didn’t even include all of his necessary medications)—representing a significant delay of roughly 16–18 hours after arrival. For a medically complex, post-surgical patient, this is highly concerning and not consistent with appropriate standard of care. There were also ongoing issues with reaching staff. Phone calls frequently went unanswered, with long periods of ringing and no response, making it extremely difficult to obtain basic information or timely assistance. Without a doubt, there is inadequate staffing levels for their patient acuity which, in turn, directly impacts patient safety and quality of care. In addition, there were serious safety concerns related to fall prevention. I personally observed a wheelchair left unlocked while my father was seated in it at the dining table and immediately corrected it. Unfortunately, later that evening, the same safety issue occurred again with another staff member failing to lock my father’s wheelchair resulting in my father falling backwards and hitting his head. Following this fall, I was never contacted by the facility that this accident occurred!! Instead, I learned about the incident indirectly when my father called me approximately an hour later to tell me that he needed his insurance information because they wanted to take an x-ray because he fell backwards and hit his head. This is especially alarming given that my father is on blood thinners and had recently undergone major cervical spine surgery. A head injury and/or further damage to his cervical spine needed to be immediately evaluated!! The lack of immediate medical attention and family notification incredibly negligent. I immediately instructed that he be sent to the hospital for evaluation. Overall, within a single 24-hour period, there were multiple and serious breakdowns in care involving medication management, fall prevention, communication, and post-incident reporting. These are not minor issues—they represent fundamental patient safety concerns that should be addressed urgently.

Great Experience for my wife she spent 14 days for rehab after a hospitalization. Kenisha, Robin, Dee and others nurses were nice and efficient. Donte from the kitchen was great along with Lula. Elizabeth, Christian, Saniqua, and Cathy great staff. And of course Social Worker Stacie was fantastic always was able to answer questions and follow through on requests. Great attitude and attention to detail in her work. I was disappointed with one individual who I approached several times with questions she stated she was very busy and and she “ all these different duties “ she told me to talk to her when she was at her desk however when I did she was talking with others at her desk and I asked her politely can I talk and once again she stated “ maybe tomorrow “ . But overall very good experience for my wife. Also I want to add the Rehab staff were fantastic PT and OT thumbs up great service and was very significant in my wife’s recovery great work.

Our Mom stayed with Novi Lakes to rehab after a fall, which also included physical therapy. Novi Lakes checked all the boxes, from safety, support, quality care, cleanliness, good food, a pleasant environment as well as sincere and friendly staff. If ever this type of service was required by our family again, we wouldn’t hesitate to choose Novi Lakes.

After a stroke, our 90+ yr mother benefitted greatly from the professional, very caring Rehab staff OT, PT, Speech therapist, Nurses and nurse assistants, Social worker (very helpful!!), admissions staff. Attention to skin care, tasty food with modified texture, Friday happy hour and pretty decorations everywhere enhanced our time. Thank you so much.

The facility is clean, rooms are nice (with some private options available), and the food seems good. If you have an older relative who had a fall, hip replacement, or similar and needs rehabilitation to be able to function at home again, however, I don't recommend sending the person here. My relative was at Novi Lakes for post-hospital rehab in December 2025 after a serious fall. She didn't regain any significant mobility while at Novi Lakes, where physical therapy availability seemed limited in practice. She remained bedbound and continued to deteriorate after release, recently passing away. I'd suggest trying Maple Manor Rehab Center instead, which successfully rehabilitated the same person to be able to function at home again earlier in 2025. My now-deceased relative reported receiving much better PT at Maple Manor.
