Our Gigi has been at The Brook 6 months now. The facility is beautiful. The daily activities and care team have eased her adjustment to an assisted living facility and continue to enrich her days. We are so thankful to have such a nice facility in Newaygo!
We are proud to have this wonderful independent living and retirement community as part of our Chamber family. My mom lived at the Brook For the last few months of her life. The staff were always very kind and caring. They spent time with her and encouraged her to engage with the other residents without pushing her. Management (Karen) was super easy to work with and made it a pretty seamless transition for all of us. The facility was clean and never smelled bad like a lot of assisted living facilities do.
My brother has been at The Brook of Newaygo for several months. Im there 5 days out of the week. Karen, The Property Manager is wonderful and takes time to talk and get to know the patients. Clean facility. This is not a nursing home, it's a retirement facility. They all have been very kind to my brother and helpful. My opinion is quality help is very hard to find and retain! I feel at peace knowing my brother lives there.
working there for 5 shifts I seen tons of neglect and carelessness in your facility to its residents. Everyone there is taught to "check boxes" on the MAR for cares/ADL whether its done or not, that's called "lying about cares". Karen the manager said your newaygo facility has the lowest percent on med management in all of its facilities, sitting at 70 %'s because Karen and THE BROOK provide next to no training on meds. Its a here check and look and see and figure it out for yourself, narc count isnt right either some of the times, state requirement is in the 90%'s. Your A1 and A5 dont get much care, I watched them get ignored alot of the time. B9 has a terrible problem that no one cares for either. Its a problem that can simply be helped and taken care of with the right cares. B11 has that whole wing/hallway mostly scared because they go in everyones rooms for no reason and without knocking and will sometimes stare and watch people sleep. They have even gotten in bed with another resident, that said the resident ran out of their room. Most women in the B hall keep their doors shut and locked because of B11. The price to live at the brook is fair priced because they provide fair services. If your living in independent living, the brooks is looking to charge you for every little thing (e.g. taking packages to there room, bringing them things, doing anything "extra") they will try to charge you for. Corporate has no humanity either but yet they are running a humanitarian business. If I was the owners I'd be sad at how this place is ran. When I worked there I seen a bunch of loneliness in the residents. We were only taught to provide minimal care. I realize its called "assisted living" but these seniors want companionship...someone to talk to....someone to listen to them. Even if it doesn't make sense to us, it makes sense to them and it makes them feel important and valued. I pray I never make it to this age bc I know the treatment I'll receive later. Please put your loved one in a better place that corporate will actually care about your loved one and understand that if it wasn't for your money and your loved one in this facility then they wouldn't be in business.
Grateful for their support. Always willing to help make a difference in their community. Thank you for your event sponsorship.
My 92 year old dad (w/ moderate alzhemiers) & us kids are thrilled with the care dad gets here. We love the fact that it is staffed with very kind, compassionate & helpful people. The facility is well maintained & beautiful. This is our 2nd experience with assisted living homes. Mom was at another nice facility. However, this facility has a better price, food quality, less staff turnover & very happy residents & family members in comparison to what mom had at the place she was at. Dad’s response to living here: “ If you can’t live in your own home anymore this is the next best place.” God is good & dad is happy…that means everything to us 2/26/25 Dad passed on to heaven. The care he & we got in his week of passing was outstanding! Everyone was so attentive to dad’s needs & took wonderful care of us as well. He was only there just over 3 months but our family has experienced such close bonds with the staff in that short time. Thank you Karen Ball, along your amazing, loving & compassionate staff! We are so truly thankful that dad had all of you in his life to love on him & tenderly care for him. God bless you all for blessing us so richly.
My parents have been living at The Brook for almost 2 years. It is a beautiful, well maintained facility. The culture is one of patience and caring. The Brook offers many opportunities for fun events and group travel. If someone is just a homebody, it is still a great place to be. The current facility manager, Karen, and staff (especially nurse, Chris and Nancy) have gone out of their way to help my parents during difficult and transitional times. The Brook has been helpful connecting us with appropriate agencies and medical. I am very happy with them. I, myself, would live there(if I needed assisted living). My grandkids LOVE visiting their great grandparents at The Brook...that ALONE speaks volumes.
