I am sharing my experience because I believe families deserve to know what to expect when entrusting the care of elderly loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia to a memory-care facility. My parents were residents here for approximately 30 days. We ultimately moved them because of repeated concerns about staffing, communication, follow-through, medication management, and basic daily care. Before admission, we were instructed to provide bags of clothing that the facility would wash, label, fold, and place in my parents’ rooms within a few days. Despite repeated inquiries to staff and…
I am sharing my experience because I believe families deserve to know what to expect when entrusting the care of elderly loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia to a memory-care facility. Despite repeated inquiries to staff and administration, the clothing was not returned to their rooms for weeks. During that time, my parents were sometimes dressed in clothing belonging to other residents. I also observed significant changes in my mother’s mobility. She had been walking with a walker shortly before admission, but at the facility she was confined to a wheelchair. Medications that had previously been discontinued were restarted, and she subsequently experienced multiple falls, resulting in visible bruising to her face. I was also concerned that she was not consistently assisted with getting out of bed and getting dressed. On one occasion, I found her still in bed at approximately 10 a.m. When I raised the issue, I was told that if a resident does not want to get up, staff do not make them. I also observed residents left in hallways for extended periods, including residents who appeared to need assistance with toileting and personal care. These experiences raised serious concerns for me about staffing levels and the consistency of basic care. I understand that caring for individuals with dementia is challenging, and I recognize that no facility can prevent every fall or meet every request immediately. My concern is the repeated lack of follow-through and communication regarding basic care needs and commitments made when we signed the contract. After approximately 30 days, I made the difficult decision to remove my parents from the facility. Even at that point, their clothing had still not been properly returned to their rooms as promised. I encourage families considering this facility to ask detailed questions about staffing levels, medication changes, fall prevention, personal care routines, communication with families, and how residents' belongings are handled. Based on my experience, I would urge families to thoroughly investigate these issues before making a decision. This review reflects my personal experience and observations during my parents’ stay. I am willing to provide additional details to anyone who has questions.
Staff is amazing!!!❤️❤️
I’m leaving this review with mixed feelings. There are some care staff here who are truly amazing—kind, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to the people they care for. They deserve recognition for the compassion and effort they put in every day. Unfortunately, that level of care isn’t consistent. A few staff members are very unprofessional and, at times, disrespectful in how they communicate and handle situations, which creates an uncomfortable environment. What ultimately led me to move my husband out was the lack of support from leadership. The community director was dismissive not only…
I’m leaving this review with mixed feelings. The community director was dismissive not only toward me, but also toward another family member and even some employees who had concerns. When multiple people are raising issues and feel ignored, it becomes a serious problem. I made the difficult decision to remove my husband because I no longer felt confident that his care and concerns were being taken seriously. I truly hope management takes accountability and makes meaningful changes, because this community has the potential to be much better with the right leadership in place.
After looking at different communities, when I visited The Indigo of Lansing, I knew I had found the right community for my dad. The community is clean and well decorated for memory care. The staff have been attentive and willing to go the extra mile to make the transition for my dad as painless as possible. I highly recommend The Indigo of Lansing!
Staff and caregivers have been great. My mother has expresses how she enjoys the food and activities. Her spirts and activity level has also improved.
Very bad place!
Don’t put your loved ones here. The recent social media posts I’ve read in regard to this place is absolutely disgusting. Not the environment any patient deserves especially if at the end of life stage.
The Ridge at Lansing was very attentive in the care of my grandmother who came to the facility to receive hospice services. The staff were always friendly and the facility was well maintained. They were able to accommodate a puréed menu that my grandma thought was delicious. While we are sad at her recent passing we were very appreciative of the special care they gave our family by providing light snacks and fresh water for us while she was going through her final stages of life. We couldn’t have asked for a better staff and facility during this difficult time.
