Village Manor of Ludington

My mom-in-law is thriving in her wonderful community! The owners & staff are the most genuine, compassionate, and go above, and beyond. They have taken the time with her to understand her, and encourage her to speak more. She had a stroke several years ago and struggles to communicate. Residents have told me she is doing much better saying their names, reading back Bingo numbers, expressing wants. After she fell and had spent several hours in ER, several staff members came to see how she was doing. That meant so much. The PT and other staff stay in communication with us regularly. She absolutely loves the activities daily! They are stimulating, and fun. If we are right in the middle of a visit, and it's time for Bingo, she just gets up and leaves us she's not late. We are ever grateful for everyone at the Village Manor. Lucky us!

I have toured this building and several others in close proximity to it. The false statements this business makes is the only standout point to it. All of the amenities, activities, great - healthy food choices are also false . There is none of that here. The building inside is dated and dirty, the staff appear to be hiding somewhere. During a tour a lady opened her room door and asked if we were there to fix something that she had asked to be fixed days ago. The owner told her to close her door we were touring the building. This guy was very pushy , erogant and weird. He was talking about a cruise his whole family had just taken and I was thinking that instead of bragging about that maybe he should have said or talked about the updates that need to be making to this building. The laundry room for an example is like a laundromat and they are actually proud of that.

Have you looked at the Services they say they provide? Diabetic food options FALSE the menu is printed out for the entire week and options are not available neither are substitutions to the menu. Activities, the photos show easels and painting , FALSE that is just another fabrication from this place. They have bingo, and local people who offer dj type music . Specialized Care FALSE, none of their staff are licensed care givers . The older part of this building is DATED and needs attention. The tour to prospective clients are done in the private assisted area or the NEW ADDITION . It is not as dated as the OLD side. PRIVATE BATHROOMS are only in the OLD side . The assisted side or NEW ADDITION has a shared shower between the rooms. They will tell you that the monthly fee may be higher based on add on charges, the client will not know about these charges until they are billed. Extra charges may include, independent clients who get meals from kitchen , supplies -briefs wipes toiletries.

Sparce rooms -during a tour the male owner , he kept saying he was the owner , like maybe we would forget. He tried to sell us the recliner, dresser and some end tables that were left in the room he showed us and said he could add it to the bill with we chose to take the room for my mother. He was creepy and pushy. We chose another facility with licensed nursing staff . This place is just a foster care home. They do not have licensed staff to care for your loved one. That is not a plus and the creepy owner also not a plus.

Represents itself as a licensed care facility but it is not, it is licensed to foster elderly persons. Staff are not licensed or well trained in care. The facility promoted a cleaner to an aid in the independent area to hand out medication to the residents and shortly after the promotion the aid quit stating the position was too demanding and not what the aid wanted to do. The facility looks like a professional medical care facility but it is not. It is mismanaged, supervision is at best a bit more knowledgeable than the cleaning lady. It is highly over priced and overly exaggerated in it's presentation on the internet and in advertising . I was very disappointed in the actual running of this facility, the lack of a decent menu with options. There are no trips , outings , transportation, no real community feel to it.
