Previously, she lived in a larger assisted living community with constant staff turnover, meaning she often did not know her caregivers, and they did not know her needs. We are incredibly happy with our decision to move my mom into Cottage West. Previously, she lived in a larger assisted living community with constant staff turnover, meaning she often did not know her caregivers, and they did not know her needs. In contrast, the ranch home at Cottage West is lovely and situated in a beautiful, park-like setting. The leadership team and staff are kind, caring, and attentive. Because the staffing is consistent, she receives around-the-clock care while truly feeling at home. Additionally, the meals and snacks are nutritious, featuring fresh fruit and produce from the garden. My mom is also thoroughly enjoying the activities, especially Bingo, Chair Yoga, and spa days. Thank you to everyone for providing such excellent care. We are so happy we found Cottage West.
I highly recommend this assisted living home. The facility is exceptionally clean, well maintained, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are caring, compassionate, and always treat residents with kindness and respect. It’s clear they take pride in providing high-quality care and making everyone feel comfortable and at home. The attention to detail, cleanliness, and dedication to residents’ well-being truly set this place apart. The staff members notify me immediately about any health issues. I am so grateful for their care. They have a computerized medicine dispensing system. They cook delicious, healthy meals. The staff members are thoughtful and patient. I highly recommend this facility.
Very friendly, helpful and caring staff. They really aren't a lot of activities. Most of the people were pretty room bound. But the food was decent and they would get you whatever you wanted.
Home has capacity for 6 residential setting. Staff does 8 or 12 hour shifts. Two nurses oversee care for residents, moving among 4 facilities M-F, on call after hours. Nurses respond quickly to text, phone inquiries. Staff response to residents I would rate as fair. Community interaction lacking. Work well with visiting therapists. Food good in general. Visiting hours flexible.
She did not participate in the activities. [name removed] was pretty satisfied at Birchwood. The folks treated her well and she liked them. Based on the experience we have had, we would recommend this community to other families.
My mom moved to Birchwood Living. It's an excellent place. They've taken good care of my mom. Finding out mom had fallen 27 times at the other facility after the fact was when my brother considered moving her. So that's why we moved her. The staff treated the person as if they were their own mother or better. Their staff is excellent. They're caring, kind, and considerate, and make you feel part of the family that you're somebody at home being cared for. They cared for the patient and they cared for the family as well. Their rooms are spacious. They're big enough to put a cot as well as a bed in there. So if it comes to time for the client to die, they have cots that they can bring in so that you can either sit in the chair or they have a cot that you can sleep in the room with the patient, which is very helpful if she's having a bad night or you could stay with them. They don't have a problem with that, and if you want to help with the care, they accept you as part of the family and work with you. Their food is excellent.
