Where do I start? I'd give them zero stars but in order to write this I had to give them at least 1. My 87 year old mother was there for 88 days. She was admitted to a long term bed from a rehab facility after getting a bad UTI which caused some physical and mental issues. When she was admitted she weighed almost 190 lbs, the day we moved her out she weighed 136 lbs. That kind of weight loss in such a short time, is more than unacceptable, it's dangerous! They never told me what was going on, when she was sick, if they changeded her meds, if other medical people were coming in to see her,…

When she was admitted she weighed almost 190 lbs, the day we moved her out she weighed 136 lbs. That kind of weight loss in such a short time, is more than unacceptable, it's dangerous! They never told me what was going on, when she was sick, if they changeded her meds, if other medical people were coming in to see her, nothing. They completely left me out of the loop, even when I'd directly ask they wouldn't give me details. I sat with her a couple of weeks ago for over 4 hours. She put her call light on 4 different times with no answer, the last time I timed exactly how long it was on...1 hr and 28 mins, with no answer. My mother isn't the only one, they don't answer call lights half the time or it's a long time before they do, then they get upset with the patients if they are wet and need to be changed, even yelling at them. They are incompetent in their paperwork, and in their communication skills with other staff, with the patients family, and with the patient. They hardly ever answer the phone and there's never anyone at the units nursing station. The food, if you want to call it that, is horrible. Burnt, dried out, tasteless goop. I made a very bad decision to put my mother there, one that I will regret for the rest of my life. No one deserves to be treated with such carelessness and disrespect, but your loved ones especially don't! I'm writing this in hopes that I save any other families from the stress and heartbreak of finding out the hard way that this facility, as it's being run right now, should not be allowed to care for anyone.
There are a few that do their job well. Others I question? It’s almost impossible to call and get an answer for someone to take a phone to your loved one. No answer and calls dropped. I believe possible not enough staff. It’s scary to see several lights on including my family and takes awhile to get help or they come in and say they’ll be back, and that doesn’t happen. That place needs updated and some fresh paint. I was there today and no one at the front desk to let me inside. My arms were full. I got in bringing my loved ones goodies to eat. Aid comes in demanding what I had brought and telling me I can’t do that! I told her I know the restrictions and wasn’t going to let anyone choke. She went out and cane back with two other people. They checked things out. I had shredded chicken salad and beets that my family had asked for with a choc shake. I almost came unglued!!! Can’t get them to answer a call light but try to make someone day and they’re all over you! Yes, I have door dashed and they taken it!!! I didn’t stay long because I was upset. My sister was worried because she said, the aid would get after her when I left. She needed to be changed but afraid to call because if she’s too wet they get after her because they have to change pad too.
Maplewood nursing home in rehab, the staff are very kind and friendly as soon as you walk in. The workers there are very kind and courteous to the families of the loved ones as well as the residents who live there
All the staff is wonderful... everyone was so nice and understanding.. and they will give you a better understanding of your love one if u ask... they keep there residents engaged with different activities....this was the best decision i made for my mom..if I could give it 10 stars I would
My grand mother that was in good health died in a month of their care 2 weeks no bath or essentials no comfort or care and didn't give her rational food they said she was dehydrated but never gave her a iv
My son is there and he is amazed how they treat their patients, he loves it there. I think he will be home soon. They are on the ball with everything.
The Maple Woods Manor serves nice warm food and will adjust the menu to your needs and desires. The CNA staff are friendly while taking care of our needs. They will fetch our water, ice and snacks throughout the day. Many work above and beyond their job descriptions to care for us, mainly because they are understaffed and need to pick up the slack left them by not having enough help. Unfortunately this is the case at most nursing homes. I feel safe and secure and well taken care of. My needs have always been addressed. Activities are planned to find something entertaining for everyone to do, even people like me who are bedridden. So who can ask for anything more? Constant attention to out medical needs, warm delicious food, good TV and comfortable surroundings. I would recommend this place to anyone. However when I placed my mother in a nursing home it was elsewhere and their idea of physical therapy was sitting her in a wheelchair for five hours and not checking upon her. She had a bladder the size of a walnut so she sat in a puddle of pee all that time. I wouldn't place a dog there. She died later of a broken heart. This is the best place I've been and am still receiving the best of care.
We have been at Maple Woods for 6 years. We have seen many changes from the administration to staff. Through it all it remains clean and the care for my Aunt seems to keep her content and comfortable. The decline we have seen is all part of her aging and no reflection on the facility. To her she is home.
