Lack of coordination of care among staff and departments to help patients achieve primary goals of rehabilitation. Incompetent workers (CNA's and Nurses) who do not know how to properly assist patients in their required treatments by their doctors to achieve rehabilitation. No set treatment goals for client's or proper discharge goals, they go based off what insurance will cover while providing subpar care, sending loved ones home with lack of progress or improvement in their rehabilitation. A true waste of insurance funds.
Nancy is absolutely amazing 👏 She deserves a raise. What a kind, wonderful human being.
Went to visit friend. Receptionist was very nice. Walked us to Dave's room. Clean facility!
Exceptional Care at MediLodge of Richmond My aunt Sally was transferred to MediLodge of Richmond from another nursing home that struggled with cleanliness, consistency, and communication. The difference was immediate and remarkable. MediLodge is clean, welcoming, and steady, and the staff’s professionalism is matched only by their genuine compassion. One of the greatest comforts was the low staff turnover. After coming from a facility where new faces appeared weekly—what I jokingly called “rent‑a‑nurses”—it was reassuring to see the same dedicated people caring for my aunt day after day. That stability meant everything during such a vulnerable time. Every department worked together seamlessly and kept me fully informed in my role as Sally’s guardian. • Financial staff were organized and transparent. • Physical therapy was attentive and encouraging. • Administration handled every detail with clarity and respect. • Hospital coordination was smooth and proactive. • Social workers and activity directors brought warmth, dignity, and connection into Sally’s days. The communication across the entire building was outstanding. I never had to chase information—everyone made sure I knew exactly what was happening and what to expect. A very special thank‑you goes to JEFF, an extraordinary nurse whose dedication is truly rare. Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable, endlessly patient, and deeply compassionate. He consistently went above and beyond anything I could have expected, caring for Sally from her time in the dementia wing all the way through her hospice journey. He kept us informed every step of the way and treated my aunt with the kind of dignity and tenderness that families never forget. He is a gift to MediLodge, and he absolutely deserves a raise. MediLodge of Richmond restored my trust in long‑term care. They cared for my aunt as if she were their own family, and I will always be grateful.
My time working at Medilodge left me very concerned for resident safety and staff wellbeing. The facility often ran with unsafe staffing ratios, even counting student CNAs as full staff and giving them full assignments alone. Call lights frequently didn’t work, and on memory care staff can’t leave the floor, meaning there’s no way to see call lights or respond quickly. Memory care residents often sat for hours with no activities, and supplies were constantly short — wipes weren’t ordered, briefs were often the wrong size, and we frequently had to use washcloths, including rough ones even on residents with stage-four wounds. The kitchen also refused to make required dietary substitutions. Their mandatory overtime policy is one vague line. I was terminated after refusing to be mandated 7 minutes before my shift ended. As a military family, my childcare ended at 6:30 PM, and with only a few minutes’ notice and no family in Michigan, finding childcare at that hour was impossible. I was still told to put work before my family. Residents were often unsafe, neglected, and without basics, and the facility had been reported to the state multiple times while I worked there. Most CNAs and nurses truly care, but upper management (unit manager, scheduler, DON, administration) created a hostile, unsupportive environment and told staff who spoke up to “deal with it.” Don't fall for the administrations response she was aware of all of these issues and chose not to correct the response is for show. This is my personal experience, and I hope it leads to real change.
Worst place ever!! I brought my dad for a quick rehab and got him settled at 7:30 pm. My sister and I went the next day around 1 and he was laying sideways in his bed, absolutely filthy and the nurse never responded to our request for over an hour. His emergency button wasn't responded to either. I would never take anyone there. They are completely incompetent and people are left there to waste away.
Thank you just isn't enough to express my and my family's gratitude for the care provided to my niece and now my sister too at Richmond Medilodge. It's so hard to take care of very sick and immobile patients with multiple illnesses. For over 3 years my niece has lived at Richmond Medilodge and now for 2 weeks my sister also. Both are in severe pain with serious problems. The staff at Medilodge does everything possible to assist and ease their pain needs. Neither are easy people to take care of. I want to thank everyone there for always helping them including toileting needs. Sunday we had my mom's 91st birthday party in a dining room. It was so spectacular to be able to be with my niece and sister for a little bit. Huge thank you to Tony for all the help. Mary Mataczynski
Horrible place to place a loved one. The facility barely keeps anything stocked for their aides. The food is horrible and nothing you should be feeding your family. And the management , especially the DON Tara are horrible to deal with and are willing to fire anyone who are considered good staff and replace them with those who are family. Call light times are God awful, it takes staff well over an hour to even come in the room when they are all congregating in main areas talking. This place is horrid, dont place a loved one here.
