Great community! The facility is very clean and the employees are great with the residents. Carla is one of the most caring person in the facility, very giving and involved with residents and family. Willing to do so many things to make sure her residents have everything they need and are happy.
Staff is caring, compassionate and always treats the residents with kindness and respect. They go above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable, safe, and valued. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has a welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents engaged. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a safe, caring, and supportive assisted living community.
This is such a great community! The facility is super clean and the employees are great with the residents. It is always nice when you enter this awesome place which residents call HOME.
Oliver Woods is a wonderful community that truly cares about the well-being of its residents. What makes this community stand out, however, is its Executive Director, Carla. Carla is actively involved in the day-to-day life of the community. She knows every resident by name, takes the time to know their families, and is always available to help in any way she can. She leads with integrity, professionalism, and a genuine passion for serving older adults and their loved ones. I have personally witnessed Carla go above and beyond—even spending her own money—to make sure a resident had what they needed. What impresses me most is that she never seeks recognition for these acts of kindness. She leads with humility, quietly doing the right thing simply because she cares. That kind of leadership is rare. Oliver Woods is incredibly fortunate to have Carla at the helm. Her compassion, dedication, and selfless leadership create a culture that is felt by every resident, every family, and every member of the staff. She is a true blessing to this community.
Great place with a friendly staff and a well-kept property. Special shout-out to Alex in maintenance—he’s always professional, responsive, and does an excellent job keeping everything in top shape. Highly recommend Oliver Woods Retirement Village!
My son's perspective was exactly as described as to the negligence of his grandmother's care. At 101 years old she slept on the floor all night after signaling for help numerous times. She was also left to sleep upright in her chair all night with drenched briefs. She was in very sound mind until 2 days before her death. Her oxygen hose was most often kinked. Her water canister in her oxygen machine was quite often empty. I told staff and they told me they were never trained with these things. I taught them. Not my responsibility to train staff there. She asked to be included in numerous activities and was left behind. It is a beautiful facility with a lot of potential but with the high staff turnover, lack of teaching and training, poor management, definitely not a place I recommend. There are a couple very kind people that work there but the majority doesn't have a clue. Fact: I was demanded to remove her belongings early because Carla already rented out the apartment. Fact: 2 pieces of antique furniture were stolen. Staffing afraid to speak up for fear of losing their job. Carla is doing nothing to encourage their return. I offered a no questions asked reward but Carla shows no concern or help with the return of family heirlooms. Her comment was I shouldn't have brought them there. In our loved ones last chapter we want them to be surrounded by special items and loved ones. Now she is gone and so are the family heirlooms. Not a place to trust with our loved ones last chapter. I have lots of photos and tons of texts to prove all of the problems. Per your reply: 1) an apology is in order for your negligence and lack of training. 2) I will appreciate the return of our items. 3) rather than go blah blah blah will someone please take responsibility and learn from these mistakes to teach, train and improve care for current and future residents? These elderly loved ones deserve proper care that we entrust you with and pay for. That's the entire intent. To make loved ones aware. Plans of a better future would have been a better approach. I will later post texts and photos. It's a paper trail of neglect.
My grandma passed away here. These people are like vultures, especially “director”Carla. I realize on the surface they have some nice reviews, but most seem to be from people that have merely visited or had training there, not actual people that have stayed. The real world experience is absolutely different. And we don’t seem to alone in this. Look for the review by Martha Merrell her mother passed a year ago. The staff here has repeatedly been negligent including not checking on my grandma as required and then later she is found on the floor. After my Grandmothers death the contract says the move out is 30 days after. Yet my mom arrives one day to find large furniture items stolen (really…no one saw these carried out?) and now last minute she is told they are renting the apartment to someone else early so they need to move my grandmothers stuff to a spare room immediately (even though she had 30 days upon death) and anything not picked up goes to the dumpster. (Text from Carla the director-attached). Yet they claim they haven’t entered the room to show it, or take anything. If large antique furniture can vanish without a trace, can they really be trusted to watch our loved ones? What else is going on here? There is a reason why the staff turn over rate is so high, terrible management. I would highly recommend to stay away from this place. 16 June 26 - Edit in reply to response. Not surprised you’re denying stuff. Based on your behavior thus far it was expected. One would have hoped that you would have instead taken it seriously and make improvements. But i will not be removing this review, the intent is for it to serve as a warning to others. In the coming days i will be uploading further screenshots of text messages and photo proof. i just added a picture my mom took of my grandmothers oxygen cord. It was a repeated occurrence to see it kinked up, reducing the oxygen flow.
Was called to make some exterior repairs due to weather. Beautiful community, friendly staff.
