I would strongly caution anyone considering The Oaks for a loved one's care. My grandfather was admitted to The Oaks for rehabilitation following knee surgery. During his stay, he developed MRSA and pneumonia. His condition was not addressed with the urgency and attention it required. He frequently requested his inhaler and would sometimes wait hours before receiving it. Despite repeated advocacy from our family regarding his declining health, we felt our concerns were ignored. Not to mention the staff members were so rude when we expressed our concerns. Eventually, The Oaks transferred him…
I would strongly caution anyone considering The Oaks for a loved one's care. Eventually, The Oaks transferred him to Metro Hospital for treatment for his pneumonia, but it was too late. He later passed away on May 6th. We also experienced multiple violations of patient privacy and HIPAA protections, which added to our concerns about the quality of care and professionalism. What makes this especially difficult is that my grandfather genuinely loved The Oaks and had positive experiences there in the past. However, he personally told us that he felt his health was severely neglected during this stay while we were at the hospital. We also experienced multiple violations of patient privacy and HIPAA protections, which added to our concerns about the quality of care and professionalism. This review reflects our family's experience. We are heartbroken by what happened and would not feel comfortable entrusting another loved one to this facility.
This is the worst Care Facility I have ever encountered. My mom was at The Oaks of Byron Center rehab for 4 weeks after a foot surgery and was severely neglected. We had to advocate for her everyday for 4 weeks. And still she was neglected. She was treated like an 88-year-old that had no more life to live. Some of the nurses were very rude to her and would take up to 2 hours to respond to her calling for assistance. After being severely dehydrated and having pneumonia, The Oaks of Byron Center finally admitted her to the hospital. She passed away 5 days later. This facility is an absolute…

This facility is an absolute disgrace and should not be operating. They also do not allow you to take your loved one to see their own doctor. My family has heard this same story repeated by several families. If only we had known prior to moving mom into the rehab facility at The Oaks of Byron Center, we would have moved her elsewhere. Maybe she would be with us today.
don't bring your loved one.... beware
My father was placed here for rehab. They really didn’t want to do very much with him. We were there every day. They didn’t shower him for a week and we had to go down to get his clothes. He was left in the slippery chair one night and fell out of it, causing large scrape on his arm. He got MRSA from the scrape on the floor. He was sent home and my mother was never told that he had MRSA. She took him to family doctor and he told my mom. Dad died soon after.
When I arrived at The Oaks, I had spent a year in and out of both Blodgett and Butterworth Hospitals, and I had lost half my body weight and felt like I was at deaths door. In August of 2024 I weighed 168 lbs by this August when I got to The Oaks, I weighed 84lbs and could not keep any food down, I was so weak I could barely get out of bed. Don't ask me to explain how they were able help me when the 2 major hospitals couldn't. I would recommend The Oaks to anyone that need nursing care
A wonderful place . Everyone there is kind and compassionate and very helpful.
I came here for rehab after a fall with broken bones. I have been so impressed by: The beautiful facility, clean, modern and well maintained, good sized rooms with nice modern bathrooms, the staff are warm and wonderful, I feel very well cared for, the food is excellent! I was so impressed at the beginning of my stay, the chef came to visit me to discuss any special dietery needs but also my food preferences, favorite meal, favorite beverages. Another member of the kitchen staff came to see me to discuss the next days menu, offering to substitute anything if there was something I didn't care for. In the dining room, meals are served individually and personalized to my preferences. That goes beyond my expectations and everything has been delicious. There are many planned activities if you wish to participate.,Physical occupational snd other specialty therapists are available for your needs and my care has been kind, caring and effective.i have been assisted in making a care plan and setting goals for m health and capabilities. I came for a short term rehab stay but am looking into their linger teem options. I highly recommend the Oakes of Byron center to anyone no matter what level of care youneed.
My mom stayed here briefly as the family navigated how to make her terminal illness as comfortable as possible. We threw her an early Thanksgiving dinner and The Oaks team was so incredibly accommodating: private dining space furnished with plates, cutlery, and cups. Then checked on us multiple times as our celebration continued, and even helped us clear the mess afterwards. I know I speak for my entire family when I say we are eternally grateful to The Oaks for their human-centric approach!
