I just want to take the time and shout out this facility. My brother had a stroke, he is in Michigan and I am in Missouri. Deshay Smith the director of Social Services at the facility is truly amazing. She coordinated with me all the way in Missouri. She kept aware of any changes and information that needed to be provided. Anything I asked to be done she completed it within 48 hours. She called me everyday so that I could talk to my brother until we were able to get to Michigan and bring him back to Missouri. I want to thank Deshay and the entire staff for their vigilance and professionalism.…

I recently had a family member here. It was terrible. The food is disgusting! The midnight shift is a joke!!!! They left my family member crying in pain. She asked for her pain medication as she had a serious surgery, 1 week prior. She had to wait 3 hours, while the staff were laughing and cutting up in the hallway, outside her room. Just awful!
I am giving this facility two stars solely for the nurses who actually care about their jobs and the physical therapists who were very intent and diligent when working with my loved one. Everything else makes for a highly frustrating experience. Villa at City Center is severely understaffed, and the lack of basic care, safety, and follow-through is glaring. Unprofessional Staff Behavior: I noticed behavior from a staff member that I won't mention here because it would likely lead to them getting fired. But know that there are people on-site willing to break rules and give your loved ones…
But know that there are people on-site willing to break rules and give your loved ones things that should be off limits. That is what you're dealing with when you go to Villa at City Center. Care & Safety: Medication management was a constant struggle. My loved one frequently had to call and remind staff to bring critical medications. The call button fell out of the wall the moment we arrived and remained an issue. Furthermore, staff never came for the scheduled twice-a-week showers, forcing my loved one to manage it alone -- luckily they were able to do so. Facility & Comfort: The room had no AC. The facility apparently relies on units in the hallways or every other room, leaving patient rooms unacceptably hot for ill people trying to heal. Our room didn't even have a working fan. When staff finally brought a replacement, it was broken, and the issue was completely ignored for the rest of our two-week stay. I ended up having to bring a fan from home. Additionally, the beds are like something you would get in prison. It was almost impossible for my loved one to get comfortable, often staying awake until 5:00 a.m. How are patients supposed to recover when they can't get any sleep? Finally, a request for a basic toilet lift to help with standing was also completely ignored. Food & Meal Timing: The food is horrendous. My loved one required diabetic meals, but despite constant reminders the first few days, they kept serving items with sugar. Throughout the stay, it remained unclear if the meals were actually diabetic-compliant, forcing us to just pick and choose what was safe to eat. I had to bring in outside meals almost every day. Also, be aware that dinner arrives around 6:00 p.m. and the next meal isn't until 9:00 a.m. the next day. If your loved one stays up past 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., you will need to be on standby to bring them food to get through that 14-hour gap. Communication: Non-existent. You are left feeling completely on an island. A week after discharging my loved one to finish recovery at home, I am still waiting on simple paperwork from the social worker that was promised to me. Fortunately, my loved one was not in a critical, long-term situation, so we were able to discharge early and arrange outpatient therapy at home. If you have a family member who is severely sick and needs real hands-on, 24/7 care, explore other options. I would never go back here.
If 1st impressions mean anything, I give this place 5 stars. My 85 yr old father had a 6 night hospital stay after the assisted living facility he was at basically neglected him. The hospital was able to get him over to Villa at City Center for rehab. I went to see him on his first day there, he’s in memory care. Night & day difference from previous two places he has lived over the last 5 years. The staff is so incredibly helpful and you can just tell they actually care about their residents. How refreshing!! A shout out to DaShay and Trina who assisted and provided more information than I have received from anyone else in this process. It is stressful enough caring for a parent nearing their end of life, so when Trina said “just breathe, we got this”, I about lost it. I felt an incredible weight lifted at that moment.
Staff was friendly and very helpful.
less than 4.0 that about says all there is to say. we use google maps search for 4.0 people like doctors. wont do business with anything less.
