I lived there for five (5) years. Rent got too prohibitive for me to stay, however I did enjoy the years I lived there.
Staff is very friendly and helpful!
1000's of excuses not to return a deposit after they purchased the place from independent living, kicked all the seniors out that couldn't afford meals for $[removed] a meal delivered from a restaurant. What a terrible way to push people with disabilities and elderly individuals. Wrong on so many levels, surprised they can sleep at night! They pushed us out and then we had to find a place, hire movers, etc and they won't give us our $[removed] deposit back saying they're not that company anymore but granted others their deposit. Shady owners, wouldn't live there if you paid me!
We signed my mom up for the Baldwin House and all its amenities. But then new ownership came in within a week or her move in date and sadly took them all away. They did not prep her apartment in any way after the last tenant left. Not sure Grand Rapids needs more independent senior apartment complexes that offer no medical care and no meals, but best of luck to the new owners.
They have lots of activities and outings organized by a fantastic activity director. Right now there is a weekly van ride to a grocery stores for residents to shop. The store varies week by week. She also takes a group on the van weekly to one of the area restaurants for social time. It’s well worth the money I spend on it. You can easily keep busy here on sight. I’ve only been here 6 weeks and it feels like home to me and I’ve made many new friends. I’d highly recommend it for seniors over 55 who are still fairly independent.
Lots of room in the apartments. Full kitchen with dishwasher. Great activity director. Lots to do if you want to socialize, transportation to doctors unless you connect with Go bus. I’ve been here only a month but loving it. I feel at home here.
My Dad is at Baldwin House Grand Rapids 28th St. And Kalamazoo Ave. We have multiple family members and friends visit him weekly. The cleanliness of the facility inside and out is great. The maintenance staff resolves issues timely and effectively. We know of no insect issues not for any of my dad's new found resident friends. Office staff is attentive, friendly and assist residents and paperwork and billing explained and worked on with resident sides by side. Advisacare 24/7 assistance and medical staff augments Baldwin House very nicely for those who need various levels of care.
Don't do it! It was so bad, I reported them to the state. Unresponsive, wrong meds, and food inedible. Laundery people were allowed to come into her apartment in the middle of the night. Food was not delivered to my mother, which lead to missed meals. Requests for assist ignored for up to three hours. Shame on you of you recommend them.
