3.8 · 71 reviewsWent to pick up my mom for a follow up appointment with her regular Dr as per the discharge instructions from the hospital, the nurses said “she was already seen by their Dr and that if she went she would be double billed.” My mom then said “the Dr never came in the room to see me” the nurses spouted back arrogantly saying, “that’s a lie the Dr talked to you and another patient right out here in this common area” they classified that as her follow up appointment! No actual physical checkup, no listening to her lungs, no nothing just a brief less than a minute consultation with other residents…

Went to pick up my mom for a follow up appointment with her regular Dr as per the discharge instructions from the hospital, the nurses said “she was already seen by their Dr and that if she went she would be double billed.” My mom then said “the Dr never came in the room to see me” the nurses spouted back arrogantly saying, “that’s a lie the Dr talked to you and another patient right out here in this common area” they classified that as her follow up appointment! No actual physical checkup, no listening to her lungs, no nothing just a brief less than a minute consultation with other residents right there. If they count that as her follow up appointment, then that is a clear violation of her HIPPA rights because other patients were there. It was not in the room and no actual checkup was done! There is no actual patient care. No getting to know the patient or what is going on. Yes their chart can tell them a lot but not everything! Not happy! Oh and then knowing we were taking her to her appointment, right after we left to take her, the case manager of the nursing home called and canceled that appointment! “Because she is seeing a Dr in the unit, this appointment wasn’t necessary” It was an hour and half drive to get her to that appointment and knowing we were taking her to it because she wanted to go, they still went behind our back and canceled the appointment before we get there! My mom has a right to see the Dr of her choice, if she wants a second opinion, that is her right! That is just low! Thankfully they had a cancellation and was still able to see her in spite of the nursing home trying to cancel it!

Amazing Care facility
The staff here are so devoted to resident wellness. Clean building and better than the local competition.
My grandfather had a severe fall and he was placed here for rehabilitation. The rooms are gross. It smells very bad. Very dark and gloomy. The staff is VERY unkind. However, the one thing that really stood out to me when I would visit my grandfather was the lack of cleanliness in the restrooms for the patients. There was always urine build up and fecal matter all over bathrooms as if they don’t clean them as they are supposed to. Another thing; when I walked into my grandfathers room to see him, he was in his wheel chair and his catheter had become undone. He was sleeping in his wheelchair with his feet in a giant puddle of his own urine. When I walked up to him I woke him up and told him his catheter was messed up so I was going to tell one of the nurses. He informed me that he already told them. But I figured with his old age he might have THOUGHT he did, but didn’t. I told a nurse and she told me they were made aware of it about 15 minutes prior to me telling them about it. And it took them 10 minutes AFTER I told them about it, to come clean the pool of urine. They left him to sit in his urine for almost 30 minutes. And when they “cleaned” it. They only used a bunch of towels. No cleaning solution. No mop. Just towels.
I can't say enough good things about Intersect of Big Rapids. The staff here are truly exceptional—caring, attentive, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure residents feel comfortable and well taken care of. The facility itself might be older, but it's incredibly well-maintained, with a charming, homey atmosphere that makes it feel like a second family. The sense of community and warmth is palpable, and it's clear that everyone here genuinely cares about each other. If you're looking for a place where your loved ones will be treated with the utmost respect and kindness, Intersect of Big Rapids is the perfect choice.
