Every one of the bad reviews on this page all the way down to 2018 are still current and valid complaints. I cannot stress to you enough that this place quite honestly should not even be operational. Every incident that happens there is brushed off and explained away. At what point does this place stop making excuses and just realize/admit that your team is not equipped to care for Memory Care patients nor is your corporation a reputable provider of such care. For example a 19 year old with 3 days of training before let loose to care for someone like this is absolutely insane! And yes the…

For example a 19 year old with 3 days of training before let loose to care for someone like this is absolutely insane! And yes the corporate liaison will post some BS response to this review below saying “thank you for your concerns, please come to us with these concerns because we would love to hear them and get them resolved. Blah Blah blah…… They know all of these issues and continue to bury them and continue to operate the same way. Shame on anyone affiliated with this facility, because you know what’s going on!

We focused more on the memory care area at The Cortland of Northview. Part of it was under construction, so we couldn't see it. The parts that we saw, I would give it a four. It was quite a unique arrangement. My wife didn't care for it, but I thought it was interesting. All of the units opened into a singular gathering area. There were no hallways, so that was unique in that each door opened into a public area where there was the dining and entertainment and those kinds of things. There were no hallways to confuse anybody. I really liked that about it. We just met with Sam, who was in…

We just met with Sam, who was in marketing, and he was incredibly helpful and interacted with all the residents there as we walked through the building. He clearly knew everybody. They did have a fenced outdoor space.

My sister didn't like the room at The Cortland of Northview. Everybody was nice. It's a nice place. The staff member who gave the tour was very friendly and very knowledgeable. It's an older establishment, but the upkeep was good. They had puzzles, TV, and craft things. The staff was very nice. The other staff just got sick, so she kind of got thrown in, but I think she did well under the circumstances.

More staff, a better online pharmacy (currently Synchrony). They're falling apart. Staff quitting and now more short staffed.

Not a place for loved ones suffering with dementia or Alzheimer. Or a memory deficiency. Staff not trained to handle the special needs a memory challenge person has. Workers don't show up, constantly under staffed. Communication is next to nil unless there is a problem. To be fair, this place was bought out in Nov-23 by a large conglomerate out of state. The staff is new, under trained in many roles. Much room for improvement for sure. From what I hear, this is status quo wherever you go.

I would say it is not fancy but it is comfortable and the staff are caring and friendly. So far I would definitely recommend it and it seems like a really good value. They are still making changes after the fairly recent change in ownership, but seem to be working hard to make it a great place.

One month into Dad's stay, they changed ownership. Through that process we also lost the administrative staff that we had gotten to know. The price for 2024 is increasing significantly (12-15%), although they have not yet told us a number. Processes are different now than they were, so I can not speak to that. The staff that is there is friendly. Dad seems happy (content) there. He likes the food and the facility and his room are clean. They communicate via text, although with new ownership it is less than prior. Areas for improvement are: it would be nice to know when the physician visits and what she does/checks when she is there. Overall, I would recommend the facility because Dad is happy there. There is work to be done from an administration and communication standpoint, again due to new ownership.

As a resident with dementia, and him not being aware that he is unable to care for himself, he has an extremely difficult time accepting that it is necessary for him to be there. The option of it being a Secure Facility has literally been a life saver.
