The people are not treated very well, NO AIR CONDITIONING OR EVEN FANS, staff is rude and unprofessional, if there was negative stars I would give that.
UPDATE : 9/7/18 Name change from Heather Hills Care Center to "The Oaks of Cascade." This is one of the nicest Nursing Home Facilities I've ever seen. It is the cleanest and doesn't have that weird nursing home smell. The staff are friendly, kind, hardworking. The interior decorating is kinda dated but probably looks fantastic to those living there as in has that ritzy 70's feel. The residents always have something going on for activities. It's hidden away from the busy road and is a great place for workers and residents.
I am writing in response to the negative review from Julie ReschCreations. I am the Daughter of the patient that Julie ReachCreations is referencing. I am writing in response to the negative review from Julie ReschCreations. I am the Daughter of the patient that Julie ReachCreations is referencing. Julie left our the part that she is the one who went to the facility and took my mom from Heather Hills. Julie has had no contact with the patient(my mom) for at LEAST two years (saw for an hour) and before that not for Many years and she has never visited her prior to the day SHE took my mom from the facility in Grand Rapids. My father passed away a day prior and she showed up without notice. Julie was estranged from her family for reasons of vicious, manipulative, vindictive and constantly lying when things do not go her way. As I noted Julie is not a relative of the patient (my mom) nor has any personal interest with the patients affairs. The staff was responsive in calling me and my husband and brother immediately drove to the facility. The police were called as we did not know the full details of the situation and just wanted my mom back. I am open to speak with anyone from the corporate office about the situation in greater detail. Heather Hills is an Amazing facility which has and still does take such great care of my mom.
Staff is irresponsible and a danger to patients. When visiting the facility, two nurses never asked for ID, or had a person sign the book to take a patient outside for a walk. The nurses put patient into a wheelchair, put a blanket over a hospital gown, put what was a shawl on her shoulders and allowed the person to walk out of the facility when the person had asked numerous times if it was ok. Another staff member who was not aware, opened the door no questions asked. When coming back from walk, police called cause nurses denied they ever gave permission due to their negligence of not following protocol. Although the visitor did nothing wrong, the nurses protected each other by denying wrong and blamed the guest. I would never recommend this facility. If it were a person who could have run off with her to harm patient; can you imagine not getting an ID and how they put patient at risk of harm when patient has the inability to fend for themselves or speak to protect themselves? If you value your family member, I would think twice or more about allowing a facility like this to jeopardize your loved one’s well-being.
My parents loved the place but after 93 years they left us. Food and their apartment was fantastic !!! The staff was very caring and really really cared. My sister's and I very happy that they went there ☺☺
If you haven't been to Heather Hills Care Center before or it's been a while, make sure you stop by and see them. The campus is under new management with a strong focus on residents first. Customer service is a huge proponent of what they do. They want to make the residents and their families happy they made the decision to move their loved ones here. With regularly scheduled activities and outings, Sunday brunch and more, there is always something for the residents to do! The caregivers are all heart and give the best care around.
