My sister came here for rehab after a femur fx, and our family has been so impressed with the workers here. Always friendly, smiling, want to know how your doing, etc. Good food, clean, welcoming to family, and even pets. Special shout out to Keith, the manager, Janelle In Social work dept, the wonderful girls in PT, And the Nurses and Pateint Care techs. We could not have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend the Willows to anyone looking for good care. My sister Cindy Garrison said pretty much everyone she has met is kind here. Thank you to each one caring for my sister!!!!
This was my Mom's 3rd rehab visit in 12 yrs. The past 2 stays were good. Her last stay was abhorrent. My Mom (97) came to the facility after fracturing her hip. It was apparent immediately that things there had declined since her previous stay. The poor cleanliness and lack of staffing was apparent. The staff was friendly but, some were difficult to understand. She was not being given her medications and, at one point, a staff member refused to give a med to her as prescribed by her Dr. When she requested ice for pain, it was either late in coming, or not at all. Her grandson started roaming…
Her grandson started roaming the hall looking for an ice machine to get her ice after Mom and he requested it numerous times. She often was left to languish in bed in the same position. We moved Mom to an excellent hospice facility where she was treated for numerous bed sores (obtained at the Willows)that caused her terrible pain. Mom passed away shortly thereafter. I believe she would have had much less discomfort in her final days if the care at the Willows would have been better. I would definitely not recommend taking a loved one there.
What a wonderful place for your loved one to call home. I cannot say enough about the staff. Every individual we dealt with was simply incredible. The care is excellent. The food is wonderful plenty of activities if they wish to participate. This is five star all the way. Treating the residence with dignity and respect at all times.
The Willows staff, the nurse, medical assistant, physical therapist, and food service, allowed my mother to languish for an entire day in bed, barely able to speak because she was so out of breath. She and our family relied on them to care for her after being in the hospital for 2 weeks with breathing problems. I just happened to be there to deliver her something and found her nauseous, gasping for air, bp and pulse and oxygenation at critical levels. If I hadn’t yelled for them to call 911, she wouldn’t have survived the night. She was admitted to ICU that evening, critically ill. They failed her trust and failed their declared mission to serve their residents. And our family diligently visited and engaged while she was in their care, yet they managed to nearly show my mother to death’s door. I wouldn’t let them care for a plant - they’d forget to water it.
My experience at the Willows of OKEMOS was Exceptional! I WAS GIVEN AMAZING CARE 24/7!! I had an Incredible, AWESOME AND AMAZING Caregiver named NISHA PRASAD!! I NOMINATED HER AS A SUPER STAR!! FOR MAKING ME FEEL SPECIAL!! My NURSE LISA who WE (The Residents both Permanent and Temporary) call COMPASSION!! AND NURSE VANESSA LISTENED TO US!! EILEEN and her Physical Therapy Crew KEPT US MOVING!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR TAKING GREAT CARE OF ME!! YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE 😊~The TIP Lady MY ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS WITH THEIR FAILURE TO ENSURE MY HOME ENVIRONMENT WAS SAFE PRIOR TO MY RELEASE!! I WAS IN A DIFFERENT REHABILITATION FACILITY THAT MADE SURE I WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO MANAGE ONCE I RETURNED HOME. I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THE WILLOWS DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT ME ONCE I WAS DISCHARGED. OR IF ALL SERVICES I WOULD NEED WERE IN PLACE!! AS A RETIRED BUREAUCRAT I WONDERED IF THEY VALUED THEIR EMPLOYEES? TURNOVER'S? I EVEN MAILED MY SUPER. STAR RECOMMENDATION FOR NISHA TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE BECAUSE I WASN'T CONFIDENT THAT SHE WOULD BE RECOGNIZED 😞~ Jennifer Wallace Underwood
I have been lucky enough to see the wonderful care given by the staff during an amazing Sunday brunch! The residents were assisted by polite and caring staff members. I could only hope to receive such care when my golden years are upon me!
My experiences at The Willows of Okemos have been exceptional. The facility is beautiful, clean and well outfitted. The common spaces, activity rooms, small living rooms in many places are very attractive and feel like home. The daily activity options offer a wide variety of things to do from arts/crafts to social events, games and out and about trips. Great!!!! But, in my opinion, the staff is the BEST part of The Willows of Okemos!!! They treat the residents with care and compassion. They are positive, caring people and I’m so happy my stepmom can call it home.❤️
Amazing staff, great initiative and care for the residents. The food is very good and well thought out and has plenty of variety. The care the staff has for residents is superb and plentiful. Definitely recommend.
